Are benefits still a trend or not?

Benefits are something that all of us probably look at when searching for a job. Which benefits are trailblazers and which ones are considered old school? Is retirement insurance important for us or would we much rather have subsidized meals? This question has been mind-boggling for some time now, so we decided to conduct our own survey and provide you with the results below!

We want to go on vacation!

Five or more weeks of PTO (personal / paid time off) ranked no. 1 in our survey. This proves that money isn’t everything. However, does this mean that work is tiring and that we are over-worked? This could be related to the phenomenon of the work-life balance, which teaches us how to manage large amounts of work and combine it with our personal lives. We will cover this topic in another article.

Money, money, money!

A 13th salary placed second in our survey. The 13th salary is a lump sum, which employees receive for working the whole year.  The amount depends on the company’s economic results or on meeting certain criteria, like KPI´s. Nevertheless, this is a preferred incentive bonus.

The possibility of sick-days and subsidized meals tied for the next spot on the list. Sick-days are simply the option to not come to work when you suddenly get sick. Subsidized meals are a very popular bonus, especially in production companies.

Other bonuses

The loyalty bonus program followed for the number of years spent working for one company. The opportunity for further education (and possible promotion) and the Christmas bonus, which is becoming very relevant but not so widespread in the Czech Republic yet took the next ranks respectively. Employees are currently mainly looking for stability and long-term job security, which in turn results in a good night’s rest. Retirement insurance ranked 5th, followed by home office. However, not every job can be done from home, so the results would definitely be interesting if the survey were conducted on social network administrators. Subsidized holidays and on-site vending machines ranked lower on our list. On the other hand, what did our respondents not show much interest in? Contributions onto the Benefit card, accommodations, a company laptop or cell phone (related to the fact that not all professions need them) and company functions. Carpooling to work came in dead last, which shows that we apparently have no problems getting to work by ourselves.

So, which benefits attract potential employees the most? Well, obviously paid time off and enough money! Fifty respondents took part in our survey, so it would obviously be interesting to conduct the survey on the wider public. Not all positions have access to all these benefits. Doctors obviously can’t work from home. Therefore, it’d be a good idea to focus future surveys on individual professions. This survey wasn’t by far our last one, so stayed tuned if you’re interested in more results! Until then, we hope you have a great job that you look forward to going to, regardless of the benefits! :)
